The best part of these workouts is it is only limited to your imagaination. Here is what you need some focus mitts and a partner and very limited space. This is perfect for home workout with minimal equipment that does not take up a lot of space.
Lets start out with our upper body with a simple two punch combo jab, cross, strike 50 times on both sides and then we will add another two combo's along with the jab, cross, hook, uppercut, again do another 50 strikes on both sides. You should be pretty warmed up by know we are going to add a side elbow strike and a back elbow strike on the same arm while keeping you other arm up, you will do both sides at 50 strikes each. Now we will add another two elbow strikes going up and strikeing down and going side to back all with the same arm and again doing 50 strike combo's on both sides.
Here is what they ground and pound. Have your partner laying down on there back holding the focus mitts up to you and also moving the focus mitts around so that you have to focus in on strikeing pads fast. The most common way to strike from the top is a hammer fist strike but you should try to incorparate all the strikes we did such as jab, cross, hook, uppercut, knee, and yes even throwing a side roundhouse from the ground. The main purpose is to being able to strike from standing or while you are on the ground. You don't have to hit with a lot of power, but really focus in on your focus mitts target.

Top-level comments on this article: (5 total)Really good article, I am a martial arts fan and I had been training for a while, really helpful informationThank you. Keep up your training and remember movement is universal no one style has it all
Sounds like a great work out, but also sounds like you are trying to sell something. Perhaps tweaking your writing style abit with formatting and abit more length as to what each piece to the exercise does for the body would help that. Just a suggestion ;-).I appreciate your feedback very much and I will work on that.
Jimmy, I have to ask you, WHAT are focus mitts?!! I haven't done any martial arts, but I'm interested, and I'd love to be able to understand what you're writing about. Can you do an article which explains the terminology - what each action is - and the equipment? Thanks!JenniferHi JenniferA focus mitt is a padded target attached to a glove and usually used in training boxers and other combat athlets. I will write another article about the terminology, action and equipment. Thank you for bringing that up.Jimmy
Good instructions- I've always been interested in Martial Arts. I took some classes in women's self-defence a few years ago- it was fun, and I learned some good self-defence methods, I think all women should take martial arts classes.Thanks- EllaHi EllaThank you. Here is a saying that I tell when I teach self defense class create a distraction to get a reaction then you take action. Those are darn good lines for women to memorize- Thanks Jimmy-
